MS Bike Team Sponsorship:
My Bike MS team was the 6th highest fundraising team out of more than 100 teams in the 2008 Eastern NC Bike MS tour, raising $44,000. For 2009 I am seeking sponsors for a new wine and coffee theme team which I expect to have 75+ members and raise $60,000+ for the National MS Society. I am seeking sponsors for this new team. In exchange for your sponsorship you will receive exposure to the 2,500 Eastern NC Bike MS participants and volunteers and extensive exposure year-round to the Triangle-area cycling and running communities.
New Downtown 8K Race:
The "St. Patty's Day Run Green 8K" on Sunday, March 8th will be a new MS fundraiser sponsored by Tir na nOg and Fleet Feet Sports. This will be an earth-friendly St. Patrick's Day celebration at Raleigh's Moore Square.
The 5th annual Cup 'n Cone Tour: Saturday July 25 from Cary to Carrboro NC. Last year more than 600 cyclists participated in this MS fundraiser. We expect 700+ participants in this year's tour.

Thank you very much for supporting the Ridgewood Turkey Trot!

1744 people registered for the Ridgewood Turkey Trot. They came from 33 states plus DC, Toronto Ontario, Paris France, and the Marshall Islands.
We had 110 volunteers help with planning and logistics, road closure notice distribution, packet stuffing, advance packet pickup, and race day support.
Together we raised $18,500 for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis!
That represents fabulous growth from last year's 1200 runners and $13,400 MS fundraising! We achieved this growth by hosting a top-notch, fun event with a strong marketing effort.

I'd like to tell you about Priscilla - a special person whom I met at the Ridgewood Turkey Trot.
I met Priscilla at the advance packet pickup at Fleet Feet Sports. During our conversation I learned that Priscilla has MS.

Priscilla is determined to keep an optimistic attitude and get the most out life. Her treatment protocol includes the MS drug Rebif (by EMD Serono and Pfizer), an interferon beta-1a drug (also marketed as Avonex by Biogen Idec). Interferon beta-1a is produced in modified e-coli bacteria. Rebif does not cure MS, but reduces the frequency and severity of the relapses and slows the progress of disabilities. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avonex
On Thursday Priscilla ran the Ridgewood Turkey Trot 8K. After the race she tracked me down and gave me a huge bear hug as tears welled up in her eyes. She had never run anything like this 8K race. She was touched and overcome with gratitude for the event sponsors and the many volunteers and families who came out to spend Thanksgiving morning raising money to fight MS - and to one day find a cure. She wanted me to thank all of you wonderful sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible - and let you know that MS is not going to stop her from living a happy and productive life.
On behalf of Priscilla, I want to thank you all for generously giving financial support, time and effort to provide this opportunity to turn running into a tool in the fight against MS.
If you did not receive a race shirt, please email me and let me know what size you would like.
